The player: webosu!
The osu.net player is webosu! 3.3, an unofficial, open-source web port of osu! standard, with small changes by us that are described on the about page. Its source code is released under the MIT License with the notice:
Copyright (c) 2015 Drew DeVault
The project began as Drew DeVault's osu-web player in 2015, was continued as webosu by 111116, and was developed into webosu! 3.x by BlaNKtext and contributors. The current source is at github.com/BlaNKtext/webosu. The webosu! credits thank txst54 for custom hitsound support and Calemy for refactoring the beatmap fetching code, improving load times and for Mino, the beatmap mirror the player uses. Thank you to everyone who worked on it.

Beatmaps, music and the mirror
Beatmaps are searched and downloaded live from Mino, a public community beatmap mirror. osu.net does not host any of them. Every beatmap belongs to the mapper who made it, and every song belongs to its artist and rights holders. Cover images on the map cards are loaded from the official osu! asset server. The player plays all of this content as provided; if you own rights in something and want it removed, see our terms of use.
The official game is at osu.ppy.sh.
